I have been a member of Encounter LSU since Fall of 2017, served as the Director of Education from 2018-2019, and am serving as Vice President for the 2019-2020 school year. Encounter LSU is an on-campus organization whose goal is to empower the poor and homeless community of Baton Rouge through outreach, service, and education. We are unique in that we aim to educate our members of the intersectional complexities surrounding poverty and homelessness and make sure we’re continuously learning from ourselves and others while serving our neighbors.

Executive Board Transitions
This was taken at the last meeting of the 2017-2018 school year. At this meeting I was elected Director of Education and the old officers were passing their positions to the new board.

Spring Manna Dinner
Every month Encounter LSU hosts a
dinner and social, “Manna Dinners,” at St.
Vincent de Paul. Thanks to our sponsors,
we serve the residents delicious, threecourse meals. After we serve the
residents, we dine and mingle together.
Manna dinners have been a staple of our
organization for two years.

LSU Chopped Challenge 2018
Me and two other officers represented Encounter in the 2018 LSU Chopped Challenge. The event, hosted during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, is supposed to raise funds and volunteers for the LSU food pantry. Our sweet potato hash won 1st place!
